Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join their fully remote team, based in Pretoria . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced security solutions to protect the organization's digital assets. You will tackle complex security challenges, contribute to threat hunting initiatives, and ensure the resilience of our infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. As a key member of a distributed engineering team, you'll collaborate virtually with colleagues across different time zones.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy robust cybersecurity solutions and infrastructure.
• Develop and implement security automation scripts and tools to enhance efficiency.
• Conduct advanced threat analysis and participate in proactive threat hunting operations.
• Provide expert technical guidance on security best practices for development and operations teams.
• Manage and maintain security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and VPNs.
• Respond to and investigate complex security incidents, developing remediation plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering and operations.
• Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.
• Deep understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with SIEM platforms, EDR solutions, and vulnerability management tools.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work autonomously in a remote setting.
